About Greg

Greg Marx is senior vice president of Northmarq Student Housing, based out of Clearwater, Florida. Greg is a senior partner on Northmarq’s National Student Housing team, reporting to Justin Glasgow, and focuses exclusively on institutional student housing investment sales and advisory, and debt and equity originations. Greg has a strong background in sourcing off-market deals, raising joint venture equity, and facilitating senior and bridge debt financing.

Greg joined Northmarq in 2024, after serving five years as executive vice president of Student Housing Investments at Artisan Capital Group, a private equity multifamily and student housing investment manager based out of Chicago. Before joining Artisan, Greg co-founded XFD Real Estate Partners, a student housing private equity owner/operator and development firm. Prior to XFD, Greg co-lead acquisitions at The Scion Group, the largest private equity owner/operator within the student housing sector. Greg started his career at MSCI Inc., an investment research firm that provides global equity and real estate indices, portfolio risk and performance analytics, and governance tools to institutional asset managers, asset owners, broker-dealers, and hedge funds. Over the past decade throughout Greg’s career in private equity student housing investments, he has completed more than $2 billion in student housing acquisitions and developments across over 45 university markets and has raised more than $400 million in structured joint venture equity.
