About Jay

Jay Johnson serves Northmarq as chief administrative officer with more than 20 years of experience building and leading commercially focused human resources teams. He’s spent his career leading cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives for both private and public companies.

Jay and his team are responsible for partnering across the country to lead human resources programs that support our leaders and employees, while attracting the strongest and most collaborative talent in the industry. Jay’s passion for enabling great service to clients and his experience leading strategic teams within financial services will help Northmarq continue to lead as an entrepreneurial company that’s shaping the industry. 

Most recently, Jay was senior vice president of Talent, Development & Culture at SmileDirectClub – a direct-to-consumer healthcare retailer based in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to that, he held global leadership roles with Russell Investments and Ameriprise Financial. In total, Jay has over 16 years of experience in financial services.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Saint John’s University in Minnesota. He lives with his wife and two children in Minneapolis, and they are passionate about giving back to the community by volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland and other hunger relief organizations.
