William Caruso

William “Bill” Caruso is a senior associate in Northmarq’s New York City office and a commercial real estate veteran with over 30 years of experience. Bill primarily focuses on assisting buyers and 1031 exchange clients in the acquisition of net lease retail properties nationwide. Bill’s knowledge of the 1031 process and experience in completing these transactions allows his clients to defer capital gains taxes and enjoy a steady stream of passive income from nationally recognized tenants. Prior to Northmarq, Bill served as associate director at Stan Johnson Company.

Before joining Stan Johnson Company, Bill spent over 20 years in commercial real estate as an owner-operator of net lease and multifamily properties. He led the transition of the family’s portfolio from multifamily assets to a more diversified portfolio of net lease properties that better aligned with the family’s objectives. As a result of this work, he has been actively involved in all aspects of the net lease business from acquisition to disposition as well as underwriting assets and assessing investment alternatives.

Bill holds a master’s degree in real estate from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iona University. He holds a Real Estate Broker's license in New York and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
