Charlie Rimkus

Charlie Rimkus is senior vice president in Northmarq’s Richmond office. He focuses on raising and structuring institutional equity investments, including co-GP, limited partner, preferred and programmatic ventures for multifamily operators and developers. His equity relationships range from small single-family offices to large global institutional investors.

Having spent several years as a principal at a multifamily investment and development firm, Charlie takes a "client mindset" to his endeavors, resulting in a unique and nuanced approach to raising equity capital.

Before Northmarq, Charlie was a director of Equity & Structured Finance at Capstone Companies, based in New York City and Richmond. At Capstone, he structured equity investments ranging from programmatic co-GP partnerships to high-leverage preferred equity for clients nationwide.

Prior to Capstone, Charlie was a principal at Aurelie Capital in New York City where he invested in value-add and ground-up multifamily projects on behalf of a family foundation. Most notably, he was deeply involved in the acquisition, entitlement and pre-development of Ainsworth, a transformational 350-unit project in Henrico, Virginia.

Charlie started his capital markets career at JLL in San Francisco where, as a vice president, he raised over $2.5 billion of debt and equity capital for multifamily, condo, hospitality, industrial, and office properties. He specifically specialized in highly structured capital stacks for ground-up development projects.

Charlie was recently a board member for Northwestern University’s “N Club” – a varsity alumni association with over 900 active members across the nation. He is also involved in the Urban Land Institute and is a member of the Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate.

Charlie earned his bachelor degree from Northwestern University, majoring in political science and minoring in business institutions. Additionally, he obtained a Leadership Certificate, served as a two-year captain of the Men’s Swimming and Diving Team, held the position of President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), acting as a liaison to the NCAA, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Charlie also participated in the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming, competing in over 10 events, including the 10k open water race.
