Kenneth Gentzel
Kenneth Gentzel is a managing director in Northmarq's Washington, D.C. regional office. Kenneth joined Northmarq in 2003 when the firm acquired the mortgage banking division of Legg Mason Real Estate Services (LMRES), where he was employed since 1997. The majority of Kenneth’s 35-year real estate career has involved commercial mortgage banking with the B.F. Saul Company and LMRES.
He has originated underwritten and closed joint venture, acquisition/development, construction, mezzanine and permanent loans on behalf of various institutional and private clients. He served as executive vice president of Carey Winston Realty Advisors (CWRA) for three years beginning in April of 1994. At CWRA, Kenneth performed a variety of asset management and advisory functions, primarily involving the acquisition and disposition of distressed commercial real estate and mortgages as a principal and on behalf of large investors. He also assisted in the repositioning and disposition of a $100+ million distressed loan portfolio for a union pension fund client. Additional activities undertaken at CWRA included facilities disposition for Nationsbank, facilitating "like-kind exchanges" for various clients per Section 1031 of the IRS Code and loan portfolio valuation. Kenneth was responsible for the marketing and disposition of all commercial REO for Chevy Chase Savings Bank in 1991-1992.
Kenneth is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland and is a Registered Investment Advisor with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. and M.B.A. with a concentration in real estate and finance.
